Friday Club Night

Friday 8th of June 2012

DJ Dan Brown

Born in London, Dan started DJing aged 15 after hearing Grand Master Flash and Jazzy Jeff DJing on a late night radio show. Dan brought his first set of decks after a summer of washing cars in the local area.

After playing his first gig in London's West End aged 18, it took little time for Dan Browne to become a firm favourite on the London club circuit, holding residencies in the capital's top nightspots and DJing at the most exclusive venues in the UK, including Chinawhite, Boujis, Pacha, Shoreditch House and The Roof Gardens, and has also made time for a busy international schedule that has seen him play across Europe and Asia, sharing the stage with the likes of Groove Armada and the Grammy Award Winning Dirty Vegas.

Dan's client base continues to grow from strength to strength, this year working on events with Sony BMG, Jack Wills, BMW MINI, Live Nation and Selfridges as well as being the musical backdrop to the world's rich and famous. Madonna, P Diddy, Lindsay Lohan and The Saturdays have all recently partied to Dan's soundtrack.

A personal highlight for him this year was entertaining the VIPs backstage at London's Wireless and Hard Rock Calling Festivals headlined by Jay-Z and Sir Paul McCartney.

Whether it's celebrity parties or exclusive fashion launches, Dan's creative programming and diverse music knowledge have enabled him to play to any crowd he may come across. From Hip-Hop to House, Rock to Pop and every thing in between Dan's unique and exciting DJ style is sure to get any party rocking.

Percussionist Russell Cowie

Russell began his musical career at the tender age of only 7 and has been performing semi-professionally on percussion, piano and the trombone for over 8 years. Whilst studying classical music at Durham University, his focus on percussion turned to DJ-based sets and he immediately established himself on the Newcastle clubbing circuit.

In the UK, his performances have included corporate work for major brands like Toni & Guy, a televised appearance on the BBC's The Apprentice and numerous performances at Beach Break Live- the country's biggest student music festival.

He has performed in places as far afield as Vietnam and Singapore, held percussion workshops at schools in both England and Kenya and gigged at some of London's top clubbing venues before taking up his residency at The Roof Gardens two years ago. In 2006 he attempted to break the Guinness World Record for longest drumming marathon to raise money for the Hikkaduwa Tsunami Relief Fund based in Sri Lanka. Despite having to stop the attempt due to medical intervention, he raised over £3,000 for charity. Russell finished with a total time of 57 hours, 44 minutes, 28 seconds.

Basil Black2Basics

Basil; an accomplished Musician and DJ, has been playing drums for the past 24 years and has been DJing since he was 16. He took up Bongos and Congas as a hobby with no clue as to how drumming would soon play a major part in his working career. He was spotted playing in a couple of Jam Sessions around London and was approached by Underworld who then asked him to play on their first ever tour around Germany, which was also his first taste at being on tour as a musician.

He went on to perform on tours with Artists such as Desiree, Mc Coy, Joyce Simms, and Moodswings to name but a few in the early 90’s. This then prompted him to form his own band called Black2Basic which is still continuing to date, specializing in deep soulful funk music with elements of afro beats and Latin influences.
